If given the opportunity, what 16-year-old wouldn't move in with a friend and live parent-free? Although maybe "opportunity" isn't the right word, since April had to tell her dad a tiny untruth to make it happen. But she and housemate Vi are totally responsible. How they ended up "Skipping School" (#3), "Throwing a Crazy Party" (#8), "Buying a Hot Tub" (#4) and "Harboring a Fugitive" (#7) is a mystery to them. Reviewed by Norah Piehl and excerpted.

Mysteries, ghost stories and Indian legends merge in this tale of two orphaned children growing up in Calcutta. Readers will find much adventure in this classic story of a haunted house and the spirit that dwells inside. Reviewed by Melanie Smith.
THE GATHERING: Darkness Rising, Book 1 by Kelley Armstrong (Supernatural Thriller)
Strange things are happening in Maya's tiny Vancouver Island town. First, her friend Serena, captain of the swim team, drowns mysteriously in the middle of a calm lake. Then, one year later, mountain lions are spotted frequently around Maya's home. UNCANNY X-FORCE: THE APOCALYPSE SOLUTION written by Rick Remender and illustrated by Jerome Opeña
The ancient mutant Apocalypse has been resurrected, and X-Force, led by Wolverine, takes it upon themselves to kill him. Rick Remender launches Uncanny X-Force in grand, bloody fashion, reintroducing Marvel's band of murderers and mutants with an epic story arc that takes the black-ops team to the moon to stop their oldest foe before humanity is wiped out. THE UNWRITTEN, Volume 3: DEAD MAN'S KNOCK written by Mike Carey and illustrated by Peter Gross
As with volumes one and two of The Unwritten, the art is strong and the story well-conceived in DEAD MAN'S KNOCK. Mike Carey and Peter Gross have provided enough visual and narrative attributes in all three editions to maintain reader interest and highlight the diversity and talent for which the Vertigo imprint is recognized.
